Ridgeline founder and CEO Bill Flaig told FOX Business, "We believe Tyson's management has blundered into a political minefield (and should have known better)."

"The risk of alienating a significant percentage of their customers outweighs any potential economic benefit. In a recent Pew Research poll, 80% of U.S. adults say the U.S. government is doing a bad job of handling the migrant influx. He explained that the meatpacking industry at large deals with turnover of about 40% of the workers in factory roles each year — which means Tyson needs to hire about 52,000 workers this year to fill jobs that pay about $16.50 an hour plus benefits.

TYSON HIRING MIGRANTS WHILE LAYING OFF US WORKERS IS THE 'DECIMATION OF THE AMERICAN DREAM': TOP REPUBLICAN

The news comes as Tyson announced last week that it will close a pork plant in Perry, Iowa, in June that employs about 1,200 workers amid slowing demand for some products. Tyson Foods has disputed that its closure of the plant and other facilities is related to its hiring practices amid reports that sought to link the two matters.

To that, Flaig said, "That response reinforces that their management teams don't get it and how inadequate that response is to Americans concerned about the open border."

ELON MUSK SAYS DEMOCRATS ALLOW ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION TO BUILD POLITICAL POWER

The company released a statement to emphasize that it opposes illegal immigration and that Tyson's workers are required to be legally authorized to work in the country.

"In recent days, there has been a lot of misinformation in the media about our company, and we feel compelled to set the record straight. No President has ever done that," Biden said recently.

However, that figure refers to a reduction in the national deficit between fiscal years 2020 and 2022; while the deficit did shrink during that time period, that is largely because emergency measures put into place during the COVID-19 pandemic expired.

The White House has also tried to blame Republicans for the astronomical rise in debt in recent years.

"This is the trickle-down debt — driven overwhelmingly by repeated Republican giveaways skewed to big corporations and the wealthy," Michael Kikukawa, White House assistant press secretary, said in a statement provided to FOX Business after the debt surpassed $34 trillion.

US NATIONAL DEBT TOPS $34T FOR FIRST TIME IN HISTORY

Even more worrisome is that the spike in interest rates over the past year and a half has made the cost of servicing the national debt more expensive.

That is because as interest rates rise, the federal government's borrowing costs on its debt will also increase. In fact, interest payments on the national debt are projected to be the fastest-growing part of the federal budget over the next three decades, according to the CRFB.

CLICK HERE TO READ MORE ON FOX BUSINESS

Payments are expected to triple from nearly $475 billion in fiscal year 2022 to a stunning $1.4 trillion in 2032. By 2053, the interest payments are projected to surge to $5.4 trillion. To put that into perspective, that will be more than the U.S. spends on Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and all other mandatory and discretionary spending programs.

"We are clearly on an unsustainable fiscal path," CRFB President Maya MacGuineas said. "We need to do better."

While the debt has been a source of concern among politicians and budget hawks, just how worried should you be about the nation's rapid pace of borrowing?

Experts say that the higher the debt climbs, the more the U.S. is paying in interest costs each year. Those expenses can eclipse important public investments that fuel economic growth — areas like education, research and development and infrastructure.

"A nation saddled with debt will have less to invest in its own future," the Peter G. Peterson Foundation said.

A Pew Research Center survey published in 2023 found that 57% of Americans think reducing the budget deficit should be a top priority for the president and Congress — up from just 45% the previous year.
53509926-376d-5597-a921-3899d3375c99 fbn Fox Business fox-business/money/government-spending fox-business/markets/economy fox-business/money fox-business/politics/congress fox-business/person/joe-biden fox-business/economy article Mon, 18 Mar 2024 18:25:04 -0400 https://www.foxbusiness.com/media/larry-kudlow-ignore-liberal-media https://www.foxbusiness.com/media/larry-kudlow-ignore-liberal-media LARRY KUDLOW: Ignore the liberal media FOX Business host Larry Kudlow reacts to the "liberal media" mischaracterizing former President Trump and breaks down his economic agenda on 'Kudlow.'
Of course, the liberal mainstream media is quoting Donald Trump completely out of context with his "bloodbath" comment. Anybody who actually listened to what he said, even the dummies in the liberal media, knows full well Mr. Trump was referring to the assault on the U.S. car business from China and their latest ploy to assemble and sell cars in Mexico to come into the U.S. tariff free.

Take a listen to what he said for yourself: "Now we're going to put a 100% tariff on every single car that comes across the line and you're not going to be able to sell those guys. If I get elected now, if I don't get elected, it's going to be a bloodbath for the whole, that's going to be the least of it. It's going to be a bloodbath for the country. That'll be the least of it, but they're not going to sell those cars."

US HOMEBUILDER SENTIMENT UNEXPECTEDLY RISES TO HIGHEST LEVEL SINCE JULY

Clearly, Mr. Trump was talking about a "bloodbath" in the U.S. car industry and it's important also that he said he would stop the Chinese auto onslaught, using Mexico illegally as a launching point for cheap cars exported to the U.S. which should be a violation of the USMCA agreement and the former president said if they, the Chinese continue this subterfuge, he would slap up to 100% tariffs on these Chinese-made cars.

I think that is correct. Here's Mr. Trump's own response: "The Fake News Media, and their Democrat Partners in the destruction of our Nation, pretended to be shocked at my use of the word BLOODBATH, even though they fully understood that I was simply referring to imports allowed by Crooked Joe Biden, which are killing the automobile industry."

Free trade objections, not withstanding, I say Mr. Trump would be exactly right because it's a case of our adversary or enemy, China, not acting in any reciprocal free-trade manor.

Remember, Mr. Trump's key word on trade is "reciprocity." If another country harms the U.S. with higher tariffs, or subsidies, or other non-tariff actions, then the U.S. must retaliate reciprocally. In other words, defend America's economic interests.

The Bidens don't do this, but Trump would and for those skeptics, who think using tariffs to negotiate America First reciprocity, Mr. Trump has lately been talking about a middle-class tax cut, perhaps a payroll tax cut that would be funded by potentially enormous budget cuts and savings.

It's the middle-class that does pay the bulk of overall tax burdens, so if a trade tariff is implemented a payroll tax cut would offset any possible tariff tax hike. Meanwhile, it would be win-win for the U.S. in trade reciprocity terms and pro-growth tax cut terms.

That's the real meaning of what the president was saying in Ohio. The other point is, the liberal media will do anything to take a Trump statement out of context and try to bash it and, they will do anything else to distract from Trump's immensely popular policies: protecting America from unfair trading practices, cutting taxes for the middle-class and impounding massive Biden budget overspending, closing the border and ending the Biden illegal immigration crime crisis and, oh by the way, defending Israel which is the only democracy in the Middle East, and one of America's greatest friends internationally.

These are enormously popular policies. They would promote economic growth at home, pay raises for working class folks, safety for all families and restoring America's standing overseas. Liberals know how popular these policies are, that's why they keep defending Joe Biden's goofiness and all of the Bidens' support for a two-tiered justice system that would throw Trump in jail for 700 years and take all his cash away.

So, basically, I would say, ignore the liberal media. Just don't read it. Stay with the conservative viewpoint. That's the only objective game in town.

This article is adapted from Larry Kudlow’s opening commentary on the March 18, 2024, edition of "Kudlow."
ec723e60-152c-5f16-b0c3-3ed96bdd70ff fbn Fox Business fox-business/media fox-business/person/larry-kudlow fox-business/shows/kudlow fox-business/markets/economy fox-business/media article Mon, 18 Mar 2024 17:35:14 -0400 https://www.foxbusiness.com/markets/sports-illustrated-new-publisher-minute-media-will-continue-print-edition https://www.foxbusiness.com/markets/sports-illustrated-new-publisher-minute-media-will-continue-print-edition Sports Illustrated has a new publisher, Minute Media, will continue print edition Minute Media will receive digital and print publishing rights for the brand through a new "long-term partnership" between it and owner Authentic Brands Group. Three months before the plan expires, the servicer should reach out about recertification.

About 35 days before the plan expires, borrowers’ income information is due and 10 days before the plan expires will be the last date borrowers have to turn in their income documents. While 3-year loan rates rose by 0.31 percentage points, rates on 5-year loans edged up by 0.02 percentage points. Interest rates for both terms remain significantly higher than they were this time last year, up 2.33 percentage points for 3-year loans, and 5.97 percentage points for 5-year loans.

Still, borrowers can take advantage of interest savings with a 3- or 5-year personal loan, as both loan terms offer lower interest rates on average than higher-cost borrowing options such as credit cards.

But whether a personal loan is right for you depends on multiple factors, including what rate you can qualify for, which is largely based on your credit score. Comparing multiple lenders and their rates helps ensure you get the best personal loan for your needs.

Before applying for a personal loan, use a personal loan marketplace like Credible to comparison shop.

Here are the latest trends in personal loan interest rates from the Credible marketplace, updated weekly.

The chart above shows average prequalified rates for borrowers with credit scores of 720 or higher who used the Credible marketplace to select a lender.

For the month of February 2024:

Rates on personal loans vary considerably by credit score and loan term. Because lenders use different methods to evaluate borrowers, it’s a good idea to request personal loan rates from multiple lenders so you can compare your options.

In February, the average prequalified rate selected by borrowers was:

Depending on factors such as your credit score, which type of personal loan you’re seeking and the loan repayment term, the interest rate can differ.

As shown in the chart above, a good credit score can mean a lower interest rate, and rates tend to be higher on loans with fixed interest rates and longer repayment terms.

Many factors influence the interest rate a lender might offer you on a personal loan. But you can take some steps to boost your chances of getting a lower interest rate. Here are some tactics to try.

Generally, people with higher credit scores qualify for lower interest rates. Steps that can help you improve your credit score over time include:

Personal loan repayment terms can vary from one to several years. Generally, shorter terms come with lower interest rates, since the lender’s money is at risk for a shorter period of time.

If your financial situation allows, applying for a shorter term could help you score a lower interest rate. Keep in mind the shorter term doesn’t just benefit the lender – by choosing a shorter repayment term, you’ll pay less interest over the life of the loan.

You may be familiar with the concept of a cosigner if you have student loans. If your credit isn’t good enough to qualify for the best personal loan interest rates, finding a cosigner with good credit could help you secure a lower interest rate.

Just remember, if you default on the loan, your cosigner will be on the hook to repay it. And cosigning for a loan could also affect their credit score.

Before applying for a personal loan, it’s a good idea to shop around and compare offers from several different lenders to get the lowest rates. Online lenders typically offer the most competitive rates – and can be quicker to disburse your loan than a brick-and-mortar establishment.

But don’t worry, comparing rates and terms doesn’t have to be a time-consuming process.

Credible makes it easy. Just enter how much you want to borrow and you’ll be able to compare multiple lenders to choose the one that makes the most sense for you.

Credible is a multi-lender marketplace that empowers consumers to discover financial products that are the best fit for their unique circumstances. California saw the largest outflux of residents in general, with nearly 215,000 residents leaving. Still, 44,000 Gen Zers moved to the state, according to Zillow. Texas saw the largest influx of Gen Zers, over California and Florida, with a net gain of more than 76,000 movers.

The other states Gen Z moved to most often included North Carolina, Washington, Colorado, Virginia, Illinois, Georgia and Arizona.

"Compared to all interstate movers, Gen Z adults who moved to California, Washington, Colorado or Virginia were more likely to have a four-year college degree, more likely to be serving in the military, and more likely to work in tech, ACS data shows," Edward Berchick, a principal population scientist at Zillow, said. "Gen Z movers are likely drawn to the job opportunities in these states, despite the higher costs of housing."

"They may also be in a stage of life where they're willing and able to be flexible in their standards of living while starting their careers," Berchick continued.

A large portion of the younger generation that moved opted to rent, Zillow found. In some states, this meant higher rent payments than the national average. In California, the average rent price is $1,856, in Washington it’s $1,592, and in Virginia it’s $1,440. This is such a natural partnership for me."

The size of DICK'S Sporting Goods stores is usually massive when visiting any location, but Watt being in awe of what he saw at the House of Sport shows how much of an experience this can be, no matter the sport.

The ad, where Watt sneaks into a House of Sport after hours to shoot his "campaign" to pitch his wife to move their family inside, shows what kind of hands-on experience customers can have.

FORMER NFL STAR JJ WATT WANTS LEAGUE TO CONSIDER CHANGE FOR HOLDING PENALTIES

"It’s an athlete’s paradise. So we snuck in here to make a video to convince my wife how sick I’d be to live here!" Watt told his director and camera/audio men, who did not appreciate him not divulging the whole breaking-and-entering situation they were in.

Watt went on to tour the store to show his wife what their new "home" could be, including the master bedroom which is located inside a HitTrax batting cage.

"Who wouldn’t want to fall asleep to the sweet baseball sounds from the state-of-the-art HitTrax cage?"

He also tried to pitch his wife on a "walk-in closet," which was all the shoe sections inside the store.

"You know how you talked about having a walk-in closet? Why would you have a closet when your shoes could have a whole house?" he said.

While pointing out the rock climbing wall and all the "adventurous" date nights they could have there, he went into the "new backyard" – a turf field with soccer goals right behind the store.

As a professional soccer player, Kealia may not have been able to say no to some personal training turf right in her new home. At least, that is what her husband thought.

"A soccer superstar like yourself needs her very own practice field. Welcome to our new backyard. What more could you want?" he said.

Kealia gave her answer at the end of the skit.

"So you got a whole team to shoot this?" she asked Watt. "And there’s an entire room for shoes? And a rock wall for date night? Hard pass, but I’ll meet you at the golf simulator. That looks fun."

Watt confirmed that she agreed to go with him to the House of Sport occasionally, but the family will not be moving in anytime soon.

Maybe more visits will bring out that inner child and athlete Watt feels every time he steps foot in one.

Follow Fox News Digital’s sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.
a03ade52-80c6-5279-8cee-6e5f1474ee4e fbn Fox Business fox-business/industries/sports fox-business/organization/nfl fox-business/markets fox-business/sports article Mon, 18 Mar 2024 10:05:29 -0400
